FAQ
Q: What can I expect from my first Pilates Apparatus session?
A: If this is your first time to the studio, you will fill out some required paperwork and be ready for your session.
The first part of your workout will be a series of exercises on the mat and the reformer. The second part will be on the cadillac and/or the high/low chair. Your instructor will be verbally cueing you on how to use your core the most efficiently in the exercises.
Finally, you will end with a series of wall exercises to leave you feeling a "little taller" when you walk out.
Q: How long does it take to notice changes in your body from doing Pilates?
A: Joseph Pilates' promise that in 10 sessions you would feel the difference still holds true today. He intended his unique exercises to be done 3 or more times a week to feel that quick difference. We encourage you to practice Pilates as many times a week as you can at the beginning to experience the changes "up front". We will be happy to show you what combination and frequency of Apparatus sessions and Pilates mat classes that will bring the changes that you are looking for in the most efficient manner.
Q: I work out three times a week with weights, why do I need Pilates?
A: While weight training is ideal for building muscle mass, it also shortens the fibers of the muscles thus making them more dense and thick.
Pilates lengthens the muscles while strengthening them, giving you a longer, leaner appearance. If you want to keep doing the frequent weight training it makes sense to include some Pilates apparatus instruction to add flexibility and length to your muscles.
